BURLINGTON — This Friday, May 24, is the first of the summer’s Fourth Fridays, which will be from 5:30-9 p.m. in downtown Burlington. The music starts at 5:30 p.m. with John Mark Ridge on the Depot lawn. Kings River takes to the Amphitheater at 7 p.m.
Fourth Fridays offer fun for the whole family and are an opportunity for friends and neighbors to meet for an evening of music, food and a few drinks. Food trucks for May 24 are Baconessence, Pita Delite, Taco Bros, the Heights Dominican, Carolina Sugar Clouds, Kona Ice and the Peach Cobbler Factory. Burlington Beer Works, Tanner’s Wine Bar and Forgotten Road Ales will be serving alcohol.
Fourth Fridays are also a time to explore Burlington’s Downtown Social District. Patrons can purchase beer, wine, cider or cocktails from permitted restaurants and bars and drink as they stroll around the seven-block district. A decal on the front door of businesses will identify which allow beverages inside. The social district operates every Friday and Saturday from noon-10 p.m. and includes sections of Front, Main, Spring, Davis and Worth streets.
Social-district drinks, which must be in specially branded cups, can be purchased at Burlington Beer Works, Burlington Public House, D&J’s Martinis, Go Burrito, Tanner’s Wine Bar, the Mini Dingo and Valerio’s Italian Restaurant. Several downtown businesses will welcome patrons with beverages including Crush Superfoods, Downtown Yoga & Barre, Main Street Vinyl, Owl & Rabbit Gallery and Persnickety Books.
The other Fourth Fridays of this summer will be June 28, July 26, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27.
