BURLINGTON — Thataways on Overbrook Road in Burlington will have a special dance lesson introducing the West Coast swing on Thursday, June 6.
A one-hour introductory partner dance lesson will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 30-minute line dance lesson at 7:30 p.m. Open dancing will commence at 8 p.m. and continue until 9:30 p.m., with music spanning West Coast and other swing, country two-step, popular line and more dances. The cost is $5.
Dance participants may learn the three core moves that form the basis of nearly all WCS patterns. Getting experience with these foundational moves and techniques will make it easier to advance your skills. WCS is a versatile slot dance that can be enjoyed at most social dance events, including country events, and crowded bars. It is perfect for slower music from various genres including swing, country, blues, rock and jazz.
Want to lead a favorite popular dance? Inform the DJ early so your request can be slotted into the program and your song can be selected; be prepared to guide a quick walkthrough if needed.
