Rockie and Mary Lou Troxler of Elon were honored with a dinner and dance Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Diamond Room of Wade’s Jewelers in Gibsonville in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts were Tonja Troxler-Lo, the honorees’ daughter, and her husband Sunny Lo, both of Cary; Jeremy Troxler of Elon and Jesse Troxler of Burlington, their sons; and Nicole and Jaime Troxler, their daughters-in-law.
A dinner prayer and blessing was led by Mr. Wesley Gilliam.
The welcome was presented by Tonja Troxler-Lo, a toast was offered by Jeremy Troxler, and remarks on behalf of the hosts were given by Jesse Troxler. A marriage blessing and prayer was conducted by the couple’s pastor, Rev. Judson Dunlap of Shiloh United Methodist Church at a kneeling bench topped by the symbol of the Marriage in Christ Christogram that was used in their original wedding.
A cake cutting was held by the couple. The cake was topped with the cake decoration from their original wedding reception.
Table settings and décor were provided by Mrs. Debbie Piland of Wade’s Diamond Room. Floral centerpieces consisting of a variety of white and cream flowers accented with gold hypericum berries and ruscus greenery were furnished by Custom Floral Decorations. Catering was provided by Bakatsias Caterers.
The Troxlers were married August 18, 1968 at Shiloh United Methodist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. Shirley J. Starnes, now deceased. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
