Katherine Amanda Wester and James Scott Gunn, both of Raleigh, were wed at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, on the marsh at the marina at Bald Head Island. Father Eric Mills of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Southport, officiated. Music was by Maura Kropke, violinist.
The bride is the daughter of Bryan and Janet Wester of Southport. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Macon Smith; Mrs. Lee Wester of Southport and the late Dr. Thad Wester.
The groom is the son of Rick and Gayle Gunn of Burlington. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Calder of Charlotte and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Gunn Sr.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a classic satin A-line ballgown with satin buttons, a delicate lace top, sweetheart neckline and straps and low V back. Her floor-length veil featured lace edging. She carried a hand-tied bouquet with white ranunculus, vendela roses, white hydrangeas, light blue delphinium, Queen Anne's lace, jasmine and southern smilax.
Matrons of honor were Mrs. Caroline Bowman of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Hannah Zogzas of Dallas, Texas, friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Georgiana Wester of Florence, S.C., sister-in-law of the bride; Miss Marion Reeves of Greenville, S.C., cousin of the bride; Mrs. Abby Timmerman of Raleigh; Mrs. Jackie Mansfield of Southport; Miss Colby Raker of Wilmington; and Miss Amanda Oakes of Raleigh, all friends of the bride.
Best man was Mr. Daniel Gunn of Roanoke, Va., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Mr. Thad Wester of Florence, S.C., brother of the bride; Mr. Travis Cooke of Baltimore, Md.; Mr. Trace Henderson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mr. Clay Hester of Richmond, Va.; Mr. John Kerns of Houston, Texas; Mr. Ryan Moffitt of Burlington; Mr. Hunter Rome of Charlotte; Mr. John Banks Powell of New York, N.Y.; and Mr. Christopher Williams of Washington, D.C., all friends of the groom.
Ring bearers were Frank Wester and Henry Wester of Florence, S.C., nephews of the bride.
Wedding director was Shauna Gartz with Shauna Loves Planning, LLC in Wilmington.
Program attendants were Darby Calhoun of Oxford, Miss. and Chandler Beasley of Nashville, Tenn., cousins of the groom.
Scripture readers were Ellen Wester of Southport, aunt of the bride, and Rebekah Gunn of Roanoke, Va., sister-in-law of the groom.
The groom's parents honored the couple with a rehearsal dinner at Bald Head Island Club.
Following the rehearsal dinner, a welcome party was held at the Forest Pavilion hosted by the groom's parents' family and friends.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Bald Head Island Club by the bride's parents.
The bride earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Master's Degree in accounting from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She is employed by Deloitte in Raleigh.
The groom earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in communications and entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a franchise owner of American Family Care in Raleigh.
The couple traveled to Hawaii. They live in Raleigh.
