Mebane native receives Navy medal
Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class Luis Chaco, right, a native of Mebane, a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal from U.S. 3rd Fleet Vice Adm. Michael Boyle in recognition of being a runner up for U.S. 3rd Fleet Sea and Shore Sailor of the Year. The SOY program recognizes sailors who show the ability to lead as a chief petty officer and who epitomize the Navy core values and the CPO mission, vision and guiding principles. Chaco is assigned to Carrier Strike Group 15.
