BURLINGTON — A man was arrested early Wednesday after being found inside a store where the front door glass had been shattered, the Burlington Police Department said.
The alarm at Family Dollar at 908 E. Webb Ave. went off about 1:15 a.m., and police arrived to find Hugo Calderon Chavez, 26, of Burlington inside the building, police said. In addition to the shattered front door there was damage to merchandise and property inside the store.
Police determined that Chavez had left after breaking in and then returned before officers arrived, police said.
Chavez arrested without incident and charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering a business and damage to real property. He was being held at the Alamance County Detention Center with no bond allowed.
