BURLINGTON — Police have determined that a shooting earlier this month at a Burlington intersection resulted from a running dispute between two men, who were involved in a wreck just before the shooting, the Burlington Police Department said.
The shooting was reported about 9:50 p.m. May 9. Officers arrived at the intersection of South Graham Hopedale Road and Hanover Road to find two vehicles that were involved in a collision, and inside one of them David Bonilla-Estrada, 21, had multiple gunshot wounds, police said. All parties involved remained on the scene.
Through the information gathered during the investigation, detectives think that Bonilla-Estrada rammed his vehicle into the other car, driven by Adrian Matias, 19, of Burlington, and that Matias then got out of his car and shot at Bonilla-Estrada’s car multiple times, police said.
Matias was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony shooting into occupied property resulting in serious bodily injury. He was being held at the Alamance County Detention Center with no bond allowe.
Bonilla-Estrada was served a criminal summons for assault with a deadly weapon.
