Following a CDC recommendation that those who are immunocompromised receive a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, Alamance County is now making booster shots available.
The Centers for Disease Control and Food and Drug Administration have approved booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine. No decision has been made about potential boosters of the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
The Alamance County Health Department is now offering booster shots to the following people, who the health department says should receive a booster:
- People ages 65 and older
- People 18 and older living in long-term care settings
- People ages 50–64 with an underlying medical condition
The booster is also available to:
- People ages 18–49 with an underlying medical condition
- People ages 18–64 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure & transmission due to working or residing in certain settings
Booster shots will be available at drive-through clinics on Sept. 28, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at The Village Market Place, 1003 W. Main St., in Haw River. An appointment is required. Patients are asked to call 336-290-0650 and cancel appointments they will no longer be able to keep.
Cone Health will also be offering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine beginning Tuesday, Sept. 28. Third-dose vaccine appointments can be made at any Cone Health vaccine clinic. Appointments are required to receive the vaccine.
