RALEIGH ― The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority has approved 14 grant requests to local governments totaling $6,644,500. These grants are for projects that have committed to creating 324 new jobs and will attract more than $31.5 million in private investment. The City of Burlington was among the governments approved for building reuse project grants.

The Building Reuse Program provides grants to local governments to renovate vacant buildings, renovate and/or expand buildings occupied by existing North Carolina companies, and renovate, expand or construct healthcare facilities that will lead to the creation of new jobs in Tier 1 and Tier 2 counties and rural census tracts of Tier 3 counties. Under this program, the City of Burlington (Alamance County) was approved for a $200,000 grant to reuse a vacant building.
