A clothing retailer popular among teenagers is closing all of its stores nationwide, including two in Alamance County, after filing for bankruptcy protection May 2.

It’s the third bankruptcy filing in just over 20 years for Pennsylvania-based rue21. It first filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and filed again in 2017, which led to massive downsizing. At its peak a decade ago, the store had 1,000 stores, but at the time of its most recent filing it had 540.
