The Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team has received the 2024 National High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas award for the Atlanta-Carolinas Region from the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Alamance County Sheriff’s Office officials say they identified the suspect in the previously unsolved 1979 kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of Tammy Sue Aldridge, but the man they say was responsible is already dead.

Following a call for the public’s help investigating vehicle break-ins, the Graham Police Department has issued more information about an increase in car break-ins and thefts since Feb. 7.

Investigators may have identified someone as a suspect in an unsolved 1979 sexual assault and killing, and they are renewing a call for the public’s help in a second unsolved case involving a woman who disappeared in 1999, officials said.
