BURLINGTON — Two teenage boys have been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old Sunday night.
The name of the boy who was killed still had not been released Tuesday.
A 16-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, three counts of armed robbery and motor vehicle theft, the Burlington Police Department said.
A 14-year-old male has been charged with three counts of armed robbery.
No details about what the two are accused of having done were released.
The shooting in the 200 block of Hatch Street north of downtown Burlington was reported about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, the Burlington Police Department said. Police arrived and began lifesaving measures as Burlington Fire Department and Alamance County EMS arrived. The boy was later pronounced deceased by EMS.
Police determined that the shooting resulted from a dispute between two groups of juveniles, a police press release said.
Police did not release any other information.
PBoth juveniles who have been arrested will be transported to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. It is possible that additional charges may be filed, police said.
