BURLINGTON — Police were looking on Monday for a Burlington man believed to be the person who shot a man several times on Saturday, police said.
Marche McCoy, 38, was wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, the Burlington Police Department said.
The shooting in the 1800 block of Harris Street was reported about 1:45 p.m., the Burlington Police Department said.
Officers arrived to find that a 33-year-old man had multiple gunshot wounds.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital, police said. He was in stable condition on Monday.
No information about the severity of the man’s injuries was released, and police said they did not know what his condition was.
Detectives believe that McCoy and the man who was shot knew each other and that the shooting was not a random act.
No other information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting was released.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Burlington Police Department said investigators do not think there is an ongoing threat to the community.
