GRAHAM — One of two teenagers in a stolen car was arrested after a brief chase by police that ended with the car wrecking Monday night, and the second was still being sought Tuesday, the Graham Police Department reported.
The vehicle had been reported stolen in Durham, and police dispatchers had issued an alert for officers to watch for it about 11:30 p.m. Not long afterward, an officer saw the vehicle on Interstate 40/85 and tried to get it to pull over, but the driver refused to stop, police said.
Police deployed a tire deflation device, disabling the vehicle’s tires, and the vehicle wrecks on the interstate in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 150.
The driver ran from the wreck, and a second was detained at the scene, police said. No injuries were reported.
Police have identified the teen believed to be the driver.
Because the two are juveniles, their names were not released. They will be charged on juvenile petitions for multiple charges related to the stolen vehicle and pursuit, police said.
Police ask that anyone with information concerning this case contact the Graham Police Department at 336-570-6711 or Alamance County Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.
