With the arrival of October comes the anticipation of crisp mornings, cozy nights, and a range of fun fall activities to fill your days. From apple picking to pumpkin patches to corn mazes, now is the perfect time to enjoy all that fall has to offer with friends and family and loved ones.
To help you plan, we've rounded up some of the top pumpkin picking hotspots and fall festivals in Alamance County. Here is what we found.:
Pumpkin Picking
J. Razz & Tazz Farm
Pumpkins and sunflowers are on sale at the farm, located at 466 Peeden Drive, Gibsonville.
The farm is open to the public Friday 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 7 p.m.
Wagon rides, a corn maze and a Halloween light show are also on site. Pumpkin prices vary by weight and size.
Sasser Farms
The Sasser Farms General Store is now selling pumpkins, along with other seasonal goods and staples. The farm is located at 4415 Sasser Farm Drive, Elon.
Pumpkins and mums went on sale last week, along with meat, cheese, dairy and more sources from Sasser and other local farms.
Operating hours are Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sophia’s Pumpkin Patch
Sophia's Pumpkin Patch, located on Garden Road in Burlington, is open noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Pumpkins and gourds of all sizes and varieties are sourced from Fogleman Farms. Mums and a mini corn maze are also available.
Carving pumpkins start at $6 and mums start at $5.
Garden Valley Farmers Market
With three locations in Alamance County, Garden Valley farmers market is a go-to for pumpkins.
The west Burlington location is at 3437 S. Church St. and the south Burlington location is at 1037 Chapel Hill Road. The Haw River location is at 1212 E. Main St. Hours at all three locations are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to the pumpkins, mums, seasonal vegetables, flowers, hanging baskets, corn stalks, canned goods, pottery, fruits and vegetables are on sale.
