GRAHAM — Benevolence Farm, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated women through housing, employment and community programs, has announced its inaugural Mother’s Day picnic fundraiser.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 1-4 p.m. at Benevolence Farm, 4265 Thompson Mill Road Graham. The public is invited to celebrate and support motherhood in all her forms, with an emphasis on the experiences of currently and formerly incarcerated mothers.
In addition to celebrating mothers, the Mother’s Day picnic serves as a vital fundraiser to support Benevolence Farm’s mission. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Benevolence Farm’s housing, employment and community programs, providing critical resources and support for women seeking to rebuild their lives after incarceration, said Mona Evans, community advocacy director of Benevolence Farm.
“We are excited to host our annual Mother’s Day picnic and celebrate the strength and resilience of mothers transitioning from incarceration,” Evans said. “As a formerly incarcerated mother myself, I know how critical a supportive community is when rebuilding your family after prison.”
General tickets are $50 each and include one meal and a drink; these attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating. Tickets for limited reserved seating are $65 each and include one meal and a drink. Children under 18 get in free.
The deadline for ticket purchases is Sunday, April 28. Tickets are not refundable. In case of weather cancellation, the payment will become a donation to the nonprofit.
