BURLINGTON — The Burlington Planning Department has launched a webinar series called "Let’s Talk" to help residents and property owners get familiar with its historic district design standards.

On Aug. 16, the Burlington City Council approved the new standards.

An in-person informational event and walking tour will also be held on Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m. at the historic depot, 200 S. Main St. in downtown Burlington, to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month.  You may meet members of the Historic Preservation Commission, enjoy refreshments and go on a historic downtown walking tour.

The first webinar, on March 29 at 6 p.m., will focus on how to apply for a historic district certificate of appropriateness to make improvements to a house in the historic overlay district.

The May 17 webinar at 6 p.m. will focus on how the new design standards apply to the historic district.

The Aug. 9 webinar at 6 p.m. will focus on how the design standards have played out and how they can be improved.

All events are free. To register for these events and to check out other online learning opportunities with the Burlington Planning Department, visit www.BurlingtonNC.gov/PlanningWebinar.
