BURLINGTON — Applications are being accepted for spots on Burlington’s volunteer boards and commissions.
To apply, Burlington residents should complete the application available at www.burlingtonnc.gov/boards. The city council will consider applications and make appointments in May or early June. Board and commission terms begin on July 1 and are typically three years in length.
Applicants with questions or who are unable to fill out the application online should contact the Community Engagement Department by calling 336-513-5440 or emailing jvernon@burlingtonnc.gov.
Burlington’s volunteer boards and commissions advise the city council about matters including zoning, recreational facilities, preservation of historic sites and traffic within the city.
Boards and commissions are the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Alamance County Library Committee, Arboretum Board, Board of Adjustment, Burlington-Alamance Airport Authority, Burlington Arboretum Technical Advisory Board, Burlington Housing Authority, Tree and Appearance Commission, Minimum Housing Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Transit Advisory Commission, Recreation and Parks Commission, Community Police Advisory Team and Traffic Commission.
