BURLINGTON – A Burlington man is accused of robbing another man at gunpoint and hitting him with the gun.
Early Friday morning, a report to the Burlington Police Department that he had been robbed and assaulted in the 300 block of Ireland Street, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injury from being hit with the gun.
Police released no information about the nature of the injury except that it was not considered to be life-threatening.
On Saturday police arrested Tra Brandon, 30, of Burlington and charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held at the Alamance County Detention Center with bond set at $200,000.
Durham man charged in shooting
GRAHAM – A Durham man has been arrested in the theft of a car from outside a convenience store last Tuesday and the shooting of the car's owner.
At the time of his arrest, Ricardo Zyon Aguilar Baldwin, 23, was still in possession of the 2015 Dodge Charger that was stolen, the Graham Police Department said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of College Street. The investigation led officers to determine that the incident started at the KC Kwiki Mart at 312 Providence Road, where a man walking out of the store saw a man stealing his white 2015 Dodge Charger, police said. He tried to stop the man from taking the car, but as he clung to the car the thief drove out of the parking lot, dragging him along.
After exiting the parking lot, the Charger struck another vehicle, and at some point the man stealing the Charger shot the car’s owner.
On Friday, with the assistance of the Greensboro Police Department, Graham investigators identified Baldwin as the suspect.
Baldwin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and felony discharge of a firearm within the enclosure to incite fear. Bond was set at $50,000 secured.
Man accused of intimidating co-defendant
SNOW CAMP — A man accused of sexually assaulting a child now also is charged with trying to get someone to make the child change the story.
Robert David King Jr., 49, of Snow Camp was arrested Nov. 17 and charged with felony statutory sex offense with a child by an adult and felony indecent liberties with a child, and his girlfriend, Christy Jeannine Danese, 44, was charged with felony child abuse and misdemeanor failure to report a crime against a juvenile.
Danese was charged Jan. 13 with felony obstructing justice. Investigators said she tried to produce falsified documents and coerce the child into changing the story about what happened.
On Thursday, King was charged with felony obstruction of justice and felony intimidation of a witness. Alamance County Sheriff's Office investigators say he instructed Danese to contact the child and on one occasion used intimidation tactics with Danese to further persuade her to do what he told her to do. His bond was set at $600,000 secured.
Woman arrested on drug charges
GRAHAM – An investigation of threats resulted in a woman being arrested late Friday on drug charges.
Alamance County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a house in the 1900 block of McKenzie Park Lane after someone reported being threatened.
While questioning Samantha Louise Finger, 45, who lives at the residence, “she was noticeably confused and unsteady,” and she deputies she had a glass smoking pipe in her purse, sheriff’s office press release said.
During a search, deputies found that Finger had methamphetamine, Suboxone – a drug normally used to treat opioid addiction – and assorted drug paraphernalia, the press release said.
Finger was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of Suboxone, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
