A tiger cub named Parker has found a new home in The Animal Park at the Conservators Center.
The 4-month-old cub will make his public debut on Oct. 9. The Animal Park is located at 676 E. Hughes Mill Rd., Burlington.
"He was born at another location, and when changing circumstances meant the facility he was originally headed to could not accept him, we were delighted they opted to donate him to the Animal Park," a news release noted.
Visitors to The Animal Park can see Parker on weekends during select times as he adjusts to his new environment.
"Parker is very playful, and visitors may see him practicing instinctual tiger cub behaviors such as stalking, pouncing, and sharpening his claws on a log. He is a cat, and a young one at that, so they may also encounter him napping," The Animal Park said. "Curious Parker is intrigued by everything he can see and hear— especially people— and he often spends his time in the shady grassy area at the front of his habitat so he doesn’t miss anything worth learning about."
While welcoming parker, visitors can check out Wic the tiger, who lives next door. Wic's close presence to parker will help him learn adult tiger behaviors, according to The Animal Park. Other nearby neighbors include four wolves and a coyote.
"We invite visitors to come back often to watch this adorable tiger grow up," the release noted.
To help, Parker Passes will be available at the visitor center for those who want to visit Parker frequently as he grows up. Each annual pass covers the cost of admission to one Adventure Tour or Self-Guided Safari Day every month plus a monthly goody box of small Parker surprises.
