Impact Alamance gives $30,000 for community projects, Burlington Animal Services unveils its adoption deals, and Alamance County Meals on Wheels gets closer to getting an additional building.

Meals on Wheels Breaks Ground
The Alamance County Meals on Wheels is fundraising for an additional building.
Since May of 1973, Alamance County Meals on Wheels have been housed at the First Presbyterian Church. In 2008, The First Presbyterian Church built a community outreach building on their campus, which houses Meals on Wheels.
Since 2016, the organization has grown by 80% and serves over 500 clients a week, according to a press release from Alamance County Meals on Wheels.
Now, in 2022, Alamance County Meals on Wheels plans to add to the Outreach Building, where they are currently housed. The space will be used for extra storage, a volunteer training room, additional staff offices, and a larger kitchen with commercial appliances.
Meals on Wheels are fundraising for the project and have already raised half the funds needed. Their goal is to have the renovation completed by May 2023, the organization's 50th anniversary.
Community Construction
Impact Alamance awarded a total of $30,000 to three local organizations through the newly formed Community Forward Grants, which aims to empower and support historically marginalized communities.
The Burlington Recreation and Parks was awarded $10,000 for the Mind Over Matter Conference at North Park Ron Center, an event focused on community involvement, safety, mental health, and music therapy.

The Burlington Housing Authority was awarded $10,000 for community engagement and items such as outdoor movie equipment, a karaoke/sounds system, tents, and community grills.
Lastly, $10,000 was given to Beyond Measure to provide tutoring services to students in grades kindergarten through fifth in Mebane, Haw River, Pleasant Grove, and Green Level.
The funds will be also used to provide scholarships, curriculum guides and workbooks, STEM equipment, Chromebooks, and a printer
Clear the Shelters!
Those looking to grow their family by 4 or 8 paws can adopt a pet for a limited-time deal of $10 at Burlington Animal Services.
From August 1- 31, Burlington Animal Services offers an adoption deal of $10 for any cat or dog through the national Clear the Shelters fund and GreaterGood.org.
Donations can also be made to Burlington Animal Services through the Clear the Shelters fund at www.clearthesheltersfund.org.
