MEBANE — Nellie Garner Petty, 92, of Mebane, NC passed away suddenly at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
A native of Roxboro, NC, she was the wife of the late Stephen “Buck” Petty and the daughter of Jesse James Garner and Sarah Alice Shields Garner, both deceased. She was employed with Western Electric in the assembly department and later became a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her garden. Nellie was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Mebane where she had a ministry of sending cards and visiting the shut-ins. Nellie was a caregiver to her mom and dad, her brother Bernard, and her husband Buck before their passing.
