Roland A. Crawford, 78, of Haw River passed away at his residence on Monday, March 20, 2023.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Dewey Lee Crawford and Lula Mae Shore Crawford, both deceased. He retired from Anderson Products, Inc. and formerly worked at Collins and Aikman. Roland was a member of the Meadow Creek Ruritan Club. He enjoyed gardening and flowers, decorating for Christmas, and visiting the mountains. During his younger years, he enjoyed bowling. Roland was a member of Salem Community Church, formerly Salem United Methodist Church, where he was a choir member and self-taught organist. He was known as the best hushpuppy maker for the church’s annual fall festival.
Survivors include three sisters, Betty Crawford Craven of Sumter, SC, Joan Crawford Dixon of Haw River, and Judy Crawford Shambley and husband Eddie of Haw River; a brother, Bobby Crawford of Haw River; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William “Bill” Crawford, Charles Milton Crawford, and James “Bud” Crawford and a sister, Marie Crawford Gumm.
The funeral service will be conducted at Salem Community Church on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. by Mr. John Greeson with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
