HAW RIVER — Thomas Wilson, M.D., passed away on March 30, 2024, following complications from a back injury. Born on June 15, 1938, in Durham, North Carolina, to E.W. and Julia Wilson, Tom grew up in the neighboring town of Haw River. He attended Haw River School and Walter Williams High School. Tom’s journey in education and medicine was marked by dedication and excellence. He graduated from Duke University in 1960 and pursued his medical degree there, laying the groundwork for a career in medicine. In 1960, Tom married Jeanne Thomas, from Durham, North Carolina. After beginning his residency in open-heart surgery in Indiana, he switched after a year to OB-GYN. He served during the Vietnam War at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas. Following his military service, he returned to Indiana University Medical School to complete his residency, there after serving the communities of Kettering, Ohio (1971-1982), and Arizona (1982-2000) until his retirement. Throughout his career, Dr. Wilson was a respected member of numerous medical societies, contributing to the advancement of healthcare. Dr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Jeanne, his children, Thomas “Tee” Wilson, Kendrick Wilson, Court Wilson, Melanie Wilson Stoddard; grandchildren, Taylor Wilson Glimcher, Connor Wilson, Griffin Wilson, Walt Wilson, Elle Stoddard, Brooke Wilson, Max Wilson; and his great grandchildren Rowan and Everly Glimcher.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of The Valley in memory of Dr. Thomas Wilson. A private family service will be held.
