High school girls' soccer teams from around Alamance County have jumped into the conference portion of their individual schedules with talented athletes abound. Here are several area players to watch in 2022, listed alphabetically by school:
Alamance Christian School
Allender Yakola
Yakolla returns to the fold as a senior for ACS with the ability and tools to once again help lead the team.
Burlington Christian Academy
Emma Brown
As a sophomore in 2021, Brown surpassed the 100-point mark in a single season with a staggering 39 goals and 23 assists, averaging 2.2 goals and 1.3 assists per game. There figures to be more where that came from here in her junior season.
Ava Cardwell
The freshman notched a goal in each of her first two games this season after providing 10 goals and 12 assists as an eighth-grader on the BCA varsity team last season.

Gracie Kanady, goalkeeper
Kanady put together an impressive freshman 2021 season in the net, posting six clean sheets and totaling 135 saves in 17 games played.
Olivia Leonard
Leonard supplied 21 goals and four assists as a sophomore a season ago, teaming up with Brown to create an impressive one-two punch on the offensive end.
Clover Garden
Brielle Brown, striker / forward
The sophomore has four goals and three assists in the first five games of this season. As a freshman, she provided five goals and two assists in 12 games in 2021.
Emma Hackney, midfielder / forward
The senior captain can't be slowed down so far this season, tallying 21 goals and three assists in the Grizzlies' first five games. Hackney scored seven goals apiece in victories against Bethany and Chatham Charter earlier this month before scoring five goals Monday in a victory against Research Triangle.
Eastern Alamance
Abby Brinker, forward
Only a freshman, Brinker has shown impressive ability on the pitch with three goals in her first five games on the varsity level.
Audrey Hupman, forward / halfback
Hupman ranks second in goals among Eagles returners after posting nine goals and seven assists as a sophomore in 2021.
Karsyn Johnson, goalkeeper
Now in her junior year, Johnson has made 46 saves and allowed just three goals in Eastern Alamance's first five games. As a sophomore a season ago, she notched 90 saves in 15 games.
Molly Widderich, forward / striker / defender
A junior and one of the Eagles captains, Widderich is committed to William & Mary. Through four games in 2022, she posted five goals, with a hat trick coming against Southern Alamance, and two assists. As a sophomore in 2021, she provided 18 goals and six assists.
Southern Alamance
Alexis Cagno, midfielder
The junior leads the team up to this point of the season with seven goals to go along with three assists. Cagno is the team's leading returning goal scorer after posting six goals in nine games as a sophomore a season ago.
Allye Carter, midfielder
A senior captain for the Patriots, Carter has five goals and four assists on the year. The Mars Hill commit has played a crucial role for Southern Alamance in each of her now four seasons on the varsity level.
Kaylea Carter, center back
The senior captain is another Patriot who has been a significant piece of the team for several years now and figures to be once again. She will continue her academic and playing career at Methodist.
Elayna DiLello, goalkeeper
The junior has made 37 saves this season after allowing just nine goals in 11 games in 2021.
Caroline Eldreth, midfielder
One of the team's senior captains, Eldreth has one goal so far this season.
Evie Jacobs, midfielder
Another senior captain, Jacobs is part of a talented Patriots midfield.
The Burlington School
Allison Mann, striker / sweeper
One half of a prolific attacking duo with teammate Samantha Walker, the two have scored at a high rate for going on four seasons now. Now a senior, Mann put together impressive freshman (28 goals, 18 assists in 17 games), COVID-abbreviated sophomore (three goals, two assists in four games) and junior (24 goals, 19 assists in 14 games) seasons.
Samantha Walker, striker / midfielder
Walker recorded a staggering 33 goals and 15 assists in 14 games as a junior last season. She led the Spartans in scoring in each of her previous three seasons: 33 goals in 2021, five goals in a COVID-shortened 2020 season and 48 goals in 2019.
Western Alamance
Emery Conklin, center defensive midfielder
The senior is an anchor for the Warriors in the midfield and is committed to Emory & Henry.
Abby Lush, forward
A sophomore who is expected to have a strong offensive season this year for the Warriors. Early on this season, she's tallied one goal and one assist.
Mia Sodano, goalkeeper
The sophomore has already made a name for herself as one of the top keepers in the Central Carolina Conference. Through the Western Alamance's first four games, she's stopped 48 shots.
Avalyn Ward, striker
The senior can fill up the net with goals, evidenced by her 14 markers a season ago. She's posted two goals and two assists through Western Alamance's first four games this season.
Williams
Addie Holt, defender
A senior leader who excels as a communicator and sprinkles positive energy on her teammates. Holt combines speed, confidence and technical ability when defending on the pitch.
Olivia Vandre, midfielder / defender
Described as "extremely talented" and "soccer smart" by Bulldogs coach Kate Spoon, the sophomore shows impressive technical skills with the ball at her feet. Vandre scored a hat trick in the Bulldogs' 7-1 victory Monday night against Roxboro Person and has totaled 11 goals and one assist so far this season.
Tahani Villines, goalkeeper
The junior possesses agility while being quick on and off her line in goal for the Bulldogs. Described as "fearless" by Spoon, Villines is also one of the team's leaders.
