ALTAMAHAW — Trevor Ward reached victory lane for the second time in as many weeks at Ace Speedway, topping the field in the 75-lap Late Models feature Friday night.
Winston-Salem’s Ward won ahead of McLeansville’s Dustin Rumley, who again checked in as the runner-up in the division. Trey Crews of Halifax, Va., finished third, followed by Blake Stallings of Danville, Va., in fourth and Braden Rogers of Bakersfield, Calif., in fifth.
Ward supplied the quickest qualifying effort with a lap of 15.577 seconds earlier in the night. He won one of the two 50-lap Late Models events the previous week at Ace, when the race track returned to competition after a four-month layoff.
Rumley, the former champion in the class, had his third straight second-place finish.
Reidsville’s Jamie York secured victory in the 50-lap Limited Late Models race, ahead of runner-up Dillon Harville, who won in the division the previous week. Danny Willis Jr. came in third.
Haw River’s Todd Massey won the 20-lap Modifieds race, ahead of runner-up Gary Young Jr. and third-place Dennis Holdren.
Thomasville’s Michael Tucker (30-lap Mini Stocks) and Burlington’s Keith Brame Jr. (20-lap Extremes) repeated as Ace race winners from the previous week. Tyler Perry picked up the victory in the 15-lap Champ Karts event.
