Burlington’s Twin Lakes Community will hold its annual Lanes of Light this year with a couple of changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Lanes of Light represents a labor of love created by residents and staff in our community,” said Kathy Fletcher, Twin Lakes’ sales and marketing director.
Lanes of Light draws more than 10,000 people, Fletcher said. Traditionally it’s been free with donations of nonperishable food, and over 14 years Twin Lakes has donated more than 270 tons of food to local food ministries, Fletcher said. This year, the community is asking for monetary donations only.
“We cannot accept food donations this year,” Fletcher said.
The donations will benefit The Salvation Army food ministry.
Visitors are asked also to keep their car windows closed as they drive through the campus. Greeters will still be along the route but this year will practice safety precautions.
The annual drive-through Christmas event will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6, a Saturday and Sunday. Twin Lakes is at 3701 Wade Coble Drive. “Take exit 141 in Burlington and follow the Lanes of Light signs,” Fletcher said.
