Two staff members at a skilled nursing facility in Mebane have COVID-19, the Alamance County Health Department reported Friday, Oct. 23.
The staff members at Compass Healthcare and Rehab’s Hawfields location, 2502 N.C. 119 S., are both county residents, the Health Department said.
The state Department of Health and Human Services defines an outbreak as two laboratory-confirmed cases within 28 days in a congregate living or long-term care facility. Regular testing is required through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Compass Healthcare and Rehab has facilities also in Spencer and Stokesdale. The Spencer location had two cases in August, one staff member and one resident, the Salisbury Post reported.
The company started testing staff for COVID-19 in June, President and CEO Todd Nunn said. “At this time we are working to prevent spread,” Nunn said.
