Burlington has launched an online application portal, BurlingtonSmart, that allows residents and business owners to apply and pay for permits and licenses in an effort to streamline the process.
BurlingtonSmart is a cloud-based portal that can track inspection permits, engineering permits, planning and zoning applications and beer and wine licenses. Residents and business owners can use the portal to apply for permits and licenses, pay associated fees, request inspections and monitor the progress of their requests.
Applications for these licenses and permits can still be submitted at the Municipal Building, but they will need to be done on the BurlingtonSmart computer terminal inside the building. City staff is available to help with the new portal in person or over the phone and terminals will be wiped down after each use as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
“Though there will be an adjustment period over the next few months, BurlingtonSmart will make the permit and licensing process faster and more transparent for our residents” Andrew Shore, the city’s GIS Administrator who is helming the transition, said.
