The Alamance County Health Department is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak at Twin Lakes Community, a skilled nursing facility in Burlington.
Two staff members at the facility have tested positive for the virus, according to a press release from the county health department. One of the staff members doesn't live in Alamance County and won't be included in the county's case count.
An outbreak is defined as two positive cases within a congregate living setting, the release said.
Twin Lakes has taken precautions such as screening staff members daily, limiting visitors, testing staff members who work in higher levels of care weekly, and increasing cleaning and disinfecting, said Pam Fox, president and CEO of Twin Lakes Community.
The skilled nursing facility has a total of nearly 750 residents and 400 staff members.
"We are thankful that, at this point, all affected individuals are comfortable and doing relatively well," Fox said. "We are also grateful to our residents, staff, medical director and the Alamance County Health Department for their commitment to keeping our community at Twin Lakes safe."
Alamance County had four previous outbreaks at nursing homes.
A total of 3335 cases have been confirmed in the county. Of those, 315 remain active and in isolation, and 16 people are currently hospitalized with the novel coronavirus.
The county has had 46 COVID-19 related deaths. COVID-related deaths include only patients who tested positive for the novel coronavirus and who died without fully recovering from the disease, the release said.
