The Alamance County Health Department is adjusting its vaccination protocol, allowing residents to make vaccine appointments up to a few days in advance.
The Health Department is now vaccinating residents in Phase 1b Group 1 which includes adults 75 and older.
Beginning Wednesday, residents who fall in this group can schedule vaccine appointments as far out as Tuesday, Jan. 19. To make an appointment, call (336) 290-0650. Callers will be assigned a specific time and day for their vaccination.
The vaccination appointment line is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or until all appointments are full. High call volumes and wait times are expected, so the Health Departments requests callers be patient.
As of Thursday morning, all appointments through Jan. 19 had been filled, according to the Health Department. The appointment line will resume schedule at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
"Please understand that we can only make appointments as we have the vaccine supply. We are receiving thousands of calls daily, and are working diligently to try and meet the demand. We apologize for this inconvenience," the Health Department said. "Thank you for your patience and cooperation."
