The Preamble to the Constitution named these minimum values to preserve for Americans as long as our nation shall stand: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity”.

These standards are addressed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights and our elected officials take an oath to uphold and defend these guarantees. Their actions as officials are thus bound by the Constitution, until Trump.
