Behind three top 10 individual finishers, including two of the top 3, Burlington Christian Academy finished as the team runner-up at the Triangle-Triad Athletic Conference Championship for boys' cross country on Thursday afternoon at Cedarock Park.
Turner Merritt won the individual title with a time of 19 minutes, 20.24 seconds to guide Trinity School of Durham to the team championship with 38 points.
Coming in a close second by 4.11 seconds was BCA's Brock Matheny (19:24.35) while teammate Jacob Cockerham (19:36.93) placed third. Alexander Hyatt (20:36.35) was seventh. All three Royals runners claimed all-conference honors by virtue of a top 11 finish.
BCA posted 47 points for a second-place finish, followed by The O'Neal School (50), Trinity Academy of Raleigh (85) and Salem Baptist (158).
• In girls' competition, the Royals had three runners finish in the top 10, including two in the top 4, and claimed second place as a team.
The O'Neal School's Molly Kuzma (19:58.01) ran to the individual championship.
For the Royals, Hailey Copland (23:11.98) finished third, Larkin Toper (23:34.47) was fourth and Hadassah Morton (24:43.80) took ninth to each earn all-conference honors.
Trinity Academy of Raleigh won the team title with 34 points, followed by BCA (42), The O'Neal School (64) and Trinity School of Durham (88).
