• BAKAD is the pioneer project in Kazakhstan under the broader initiative, serving as a bridge between Central Asia and East Europe as well as easing the transportation around Almaty city
  • The Project is a 66 km length motorway ring road around Almaty (including bridges and interchanges), aiming at reducing commuting time and air pollution around Almaty city area and serving as a key link in the Western China – Western Europe International Transit Corridor. The BAKAD motorway is a 4/6 lane structure, where the 4 lanes located at the entrance and exit sections are 9 km long while 6 lanes covering all other sections are 57 km long. The project will have 11 sections, 22 intersections, 21 bridges and 19 viaducts and a tolling system equipped with tolling plazas in each entrance
  • The total length of the corridor is expected to be more than 8,000 km, starting from the port of Lianyungang in China to the port of St. Petersburg in Russia, comprising from a total of 12 separate projects in China, Kazakhstan and Russia
  • The motorway is designed to pass from the suburban areas of Almaty city, running through Karasaiski, Ilijski and Talgarski districts of Almaty region as well as covering the outer districts of the capital city Astana
  • Further benefits of the project include but not limited to decreasing accidents, increasing average speed of auto transport and expanding volume of cargo transportation
  • The ring road will be equipped with all of the required safety and traffic control procedures, such as barriers, signs, road markings, delineators, lighting, guardrails and noise breakers
