The entertainment options in Burlington recently expanded with the opening of What's All The Rage, an axe throwing venue at the Burlington Outlet Village.
Located at 2398 Corporation Parkway, Suite C, the new entertainment venue opened on Labor Day. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for October.
Owner Lisa Hartzog said she was on the hunt for an entertainment option to bring to Burlington for a few years.
"I wanted to bring something fun and new to Burlington. There's not much to do," Hartzog said. "Axe throwing is a new trend. It's fun, it releases stress and (you can) just have a good time."
After completing a degree in business management and find herself with some more time, Hartzog felt it was the right time to make her move.
"Once I started rolling, (the business) really just started going and it just went full speed," she said.
Unlike many of the traditional axe throwing businesses in the region, What's All The Rage uses digital targets instead of wooden boards to launch your axe at. With these digital targets, you can play four different games and keep score through a computer system.
"It's interactive, people can put their names on there and compete with each other. It's just something fun for friends and family and kids 13 and older to do," Hartzog added.
The family-friendly atmosphere is also a point of emphasis.
"I just wanted to have a joyful place and something fun," she said.
Anyone over the age of 13 can participate and while some alcohol is served on-site for adults, drinking is limited to keep a family-friendly vibe. Hartzog said only beer and hard seltzer is available and there is a limit of three drinks per person.
Soft drinks and Carolina Kettle chips are also for sale and throwers are permitted to bring food.
What's All The Rage is open from 3-9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, from 3-11 p.m. on Friday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 1-8 p.m. Sunday. Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for corporate and team building events.
Axe throwing costs $29 for a 75-minute session. Coaches are available to help you build your skills.
Military, first responder and college student discounts are available. Sundays are also family days, during which a family of four (two adults and two children ages 13-17) pay just $75 for the group.
Walk-ins and pre-registration are both welcome. All participants must sign a waiver before they start throwing and closed toe shoes are required.
COVID-19 safety protocols including social distancing and sanitation measures are in place.
