The Burlington Fire Department answered a call to the 2400 block of Morningside Drive at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. Firefighters found a house with smoke coming from the attic when they arrived, but nobody inside. In about 20 minutes they had the fire in the attic under control, according to a department news release.
The fire actually started in the kitchen where an unattended pan led to a grease fire that spread to the cabinets and then the attic. It did about $100,000 in damage to the house and its contents, according to the fire department.
The Red Cross is helping the family.
