Voters in Alamance County turned out on Tuesday to cast their votes for Alamance County Sheriff, Alamance County Board of Commissioners, as well as several other, local and state races. After polls closed and all the votes were tallied, several incumbents and a few newcomers were declared the winners.
The following are the official results of the 2022 midterm election:
Alamance County Sheriff
Terry S. Johnson (R) was re-elected as Alamance County Sheriff during the 2022 midterm elections. Johnson has been in office for twenty years.
“I would like to thank the citizens of Alamance County for their support," Johnson said.
Alamance County Clerk of Superior Court
Meredith Tuck Edwards was elected as Alamance County's Clerk of Superior Court during the 2022 midterm elections.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Alamance County as Clerk of Court for four more years," Edwards said. "I will continue to focus efforts on putting People First."
Alamance Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor
Donna Vanhook was elected as one of two Alamance Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors during the 2022 midterm elections.
"I feel like people want to see my message of clean water and healthy soil for all persons come into fruition, at least nearly 21,000 voters do," Vanhook said. "Unfortunately, unhealthy living conditions associated with environmental injustices tend to occur in Black and Brown communities. I believe Alamance County can transform those conditions to develop healthy thriving communities. I am thankful people voted for a better Alamance County to improve quality of life for all persons."
Richard "Ricky" Reid was also elected as the second Alamance Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor during the 2022 midterm elections. Reid was appointed as supervisor back in 2019 after the passing of a former supervisor.
As the fourth generation to work on his family farm, Reid is excited to continue to serve Alamance County's agriculture needs.
"I want to thank everyone for electing me as Alamance Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor," Reid said. " I greatly appreciate the opportunity. I look forward to the students of Alamance County with their soil and water conservation needs to improve their property and preserve their land."
Alamance-Burlington Board of Education
Dan W. Ingle, Charles Parker, and Chuck Marsh were elected to serve on the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education during the 2022 midterm election.
"I am very grateful to our citizens for having the faith to allow me to serve them on the Alamance/Burlington Board of Education," Ingle said. "I look forward to this challenge, and will do my very best to work with our parents, teachers, board, and superintendent to improve all aspects of education here in our County."
Newcomer Chuck Marsh is excited to serve the Board for the first time after being elected during the 2022 midterm elections. .
"I have an attitude of gratitude. I’m humbled by the voters who came out to vote for me, Dan, and Charles." Marsh said. "I’m excited to get to work and to serve our community on the ABSS board of education."
Alamance County Board of Commissioners
Craig Turner and Steve Carter were elected to the Alamance County Board of Commissioners during the 2022 midterm elections. Neither Turner nor Carter responded to attempts to a response to winning.
