YANCEYVILLE — The Eckerd Boys Residential Academy at Yanceyville held a grand opening on Tuesday, May 7, showcasing its new 18,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility.
Situated on a seven-acre site, the academy is committed to providing evidence-based therapies, educational support and life skills training to adjudicated males aged 13-17 in a nurturing residential setting.
“This expansion represents our dedication to enhancing the quality of care and opportunities we offer to young men in need,” stated David Dennis, president and CEO of Eckerd Connects. “Our mission is to empower these individuals with the tools and support they need to thrive and become positive contributors to society.”
The Eckerd Boys Residential Academy at Yanceyville integrates evidence and strength-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, interactive journaling, the Council for Boys and Young Men — Boys Council, evidence-based group treatment and evidence-based individual treatment into its comprehensive programs.
“We are proud to collaborate with the Eckerd Boys Residential Academy at Yanceyville in their efforts to provide essential services to at-risk youth,” said William Lassiter, North Carolina Department of Public Safety deputy secretary for juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. “This facility represents a significant step in supporting rehabilitation and positive outcomes for these young men.”
Fully licensed by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, the academy serves adjudicated males for short-term residential programming as a Level II or Level II court-ordered disposition, with the capacity to serve additional clients based on Department approval.
Services offered encompass individualized treatment and academic plans; individual, group and family counseling; trauma-informed care; accredited year-round on-site education; vocational education; social skills and life skills training; family transition planning and support; community reintegration; and community service initiatives.
