At least 3,100 people were without power in Alamance County early this morning after the previous night’s severe thunderstorms. Restorations are underway, but some customers still don’t have their service back.
WFMY Meteorologist Christian Morgan sent out a tweet just after 4:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20 disclosing the 3,100 figure.
By 9:30 a.m. Friday, just 46 Alamance County customers were still waiting for power restoration. At that time, four outages were reported along Burlington’s McKinney Street and East Parker Street as well as along N.C. Hwy. 119 in Hawfields and Mebane.
The majority of the outages remaining on Friday morning were focused near the intersection of Mebane Oaks Road and N.C. Hwy. 119. Forty three customers were without power in that neighborhood, with the outage first reported just after 10:15 p.m. Thursday. Those customers are expected to have service restored by 3 p.m. Friday.
