BURLINGTON — Impact Alamance awarded $650,000 to these non-profits, according to a release from Impact Alamance:

  • Alamance Burlington School System, $50,000, to restore the one-room McCray School and create an outdoor learning environment that replicates the interior furnishing of the building.
  • Alamance Burlington School System, $150,000, to enhance three elementary school playgrounds including Alexander Wilson, Highland and Grove Park.
  • Alamance Community College Foundation, $200,000, for Biotechnology Center of Excellence building equipment. The college is investing $17.6 million of the funds in the construction of a showcase 33,000-square-foot facility, which will house rigorous bioscience and healthcare programs to meet the needs of these dynamic industries.
  • Alamance County Recreation & Parks Department, $50,000, to construct two and a half miles of family-friendly trail in the Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area.
  • City of Burlington, $50,000, to go towards the installation of a National Fitness Campaign outdoor fitness court at City Park.
  • Healthy Alamance, $25,000, to conduct six charrettes in the most marginalized neighborhoods across Alamance County. A “charrette” is a collaborative planning process used to share and address conflicts regarding the health of our community.
  • NC 100, $25,000, to purchase laptops to be used for digital literacy classes for residents in Alamance and Rockingham counties.
  • Positive Attitude Youth Center Inc., $50,000, for renovations of the Positive Attitude Youth Center playground area.
  • Town of Elon Recreation and Parks, $50,000, to purchase and install Rider's Playground for Bikes, Trikes and Scooters at Slade Park, Elon.
