Robert “Robby” Gordon Nelms Jr., 45, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the loving son of Robert “Bobby” Nelms and Jeanette Reynolds Nelms.

Robert “Robby” Gordon Nelms Jr., 45, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the loving son of Robert “Bobby” Nelms and Jeanette Reynolds Nelms.
Robby graduated from UNC Wilmington with an English degree and also graduated from Johnson and Wales School of Culinary Arts. More recently, he started working at the Times-News as the staff writer. He was a proud Eagle Scout and loved spending time outdoors, fishing and camping. Robby was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two aunts, JoAnn Hall and her husband, Tommy, and Deborah Nelms; and several cousins, Neal Huffman, Brad Huffman, Jamie Nelms and Cindy Nelms Covington. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Buddy Nelms.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Service and Crematory at 207 E. Elm St. in Graham. A graveside service will follow at Linwood Cemetery at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Christmas Cheer, which was near and dear to Robby’s heart.
