RADFORD, Va. — The Big South Conference announced Monday that Lexie Roberts had been named Co-Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Roberts, a Radford University sophomore from Mebane, was retired one twice in 11 plate appearances in this past weekend’s series against Gardner-Webb as she was the heartbeat of the Highlanders’ offense. She recorded seven hits, drew a pair of walks, scored six runs, tripled and stole four bases on four attempts. In Saturday’s first game, she reached the 100 career hits milestone with Radford.
Nobody else in the conference has reached base as often as Roberts has this Big South season — reaching base at an incredible .676 clip against Big South teams — and the next closest player is almost a full .100 points behind. In 33 plate appearances she has totaled 19 hits, 11 runs and 4 walks and is a perfect 11-11 in stolen bases.
Roberts and the Highlanders are currently preparing for their next round of Big South action. On Saturday, April 13, Radford visits Charleston Southern to start a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m. with the second game of the doubleheader following shortly after.
