The visiting Patriots (9-0 overall, 8-0 Mid-Piedmont Conference) used contributions from Greta Hessenthaler (15 digs, three assists and three aces) and Alexis Shigapov (31 assists, 12 digs, two kills and an ace) to top Asheboro for the second time this season.
Southern AlamanceĀ defeated the Blue Comets (4-3, 4-3) in the first round of the NCHSAA Class 3-A state playoffs last season.
Abby Carver tallied three kills and five digs, Laci Gregory finished with four kills and six digs, Lia Hamby provided five kills and four aces and Caitlyn Russell notched eight kills in the Patriotsā effort Saturday.
