Burlington Fire Department rescues three – OK four – in apartment fire

The Burlington Fire Department responded to the fire at 510 Trail One at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, less than three minutes after getting the call, according to a department news release.

Firefighters saw smoke coming from several places on the building. They soon learned there were people trapped on the building’s second floor and had to use ladders to reach the two adults, a two-year-old child and a dog stuck up there.

No one was hurt, and firefighters had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. The fire appears to have been accidental, according to the release.

The fire did about $60,000 of damage to the building and its contents and put four adults and two children out of their homes. The American Red Cross is helping them, according to the release.
