MCLEANSVILLE — One of the two men who were injured in an exchange of gunfire at a house in rural eastern Guilford County last week has been arrested, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said.
The shooting in the 4700 block of McConnell Road was reported about 2:10 p.m. on March 11.
Devin Matthew Smith, 24, reportedly fired a gun into a house, the sheriff’s office said Monday.
When Smith was shot, he fled the house and was later found on Mount Hope Church Road near Millstream Road with a single gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
A 21-year-old man at the house also had a single gunshot wound. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.
When Smith was released from the hospital on Friday, he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a barreled weapon into an occupied dwelling. His bond was set at $50,000 secured.
No other information was released, but the sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing.
