A law clerk for the N.C. Supreme Court will become a District Court judge in Alamance County, Gov. Roy Cooper announced Tuesday.
R. Bryan Norris Jr. will fill the vacancy in Judicial District 17, serving Alamance County, created by the retirement of Judge Brad Allen.
Norris had been nominated earlier this year by the local Democratic Party to run in November for election to serve the remaining two years of Allen’s term.
Norris, a native of Alamance County, is currently a judicial law clerk for the state Supreme Court. He previously served as a clerk for the N.C. Court of Appeals and as a lawyer with the Wishart Norris law firm in Burlington and the Sharpless & Stavola law firm in Greensboro.
Norris received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
