Police arrested a Burlington man after they say he assaulted a woman Tuesday morning.
Police responded at 5:52 a.m. to a residence in the 1000 block of North Mebane Street to find a woman with "significant injuries," according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department. Police say the woman is currently at the University of North Carolina Hospital in serious condition.
Dennis Wayne Johnson, 51, was arrested in connection with the assault. He is being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and felony first degree kidnapping.
He's being held at the county jail on a $1 million secured bond.
