Burlington police arrested a man they say kidnapped a woman he knew on Friday, Sept. 4.
Police say they responded to Food Lion at 2660 Ramada Road in response to a man forcing a woman into a grey Pontiac Grand Prix in the parking lot.
Before police arrived, the suspect had left Food Lion and drove to the BP gas station at 1103 Huffman Mill Road. There, the woman was able to contact a family member before being forced back into the vehicle, according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department.
Police arrested Curtis Simms, 36, in connection with the incident. He is being charged with two counts of kidnaping and one count of assault on a female. He's being held at the Alamance County jail.
The woman was given medical treatment for minor injures, the press release said. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
