One more person was arrested after protests in Graham, making four total arrests this week related to the protests.
On Monday, Sept. 21, a disturbance occurred between two groups in Court Square after the county commissioner's meeting, according to a press release from the Graham Police Department.
Ryan Evans, 35, of Burlington, N.C., was issued a citation for disorderly conduct, and Eddie Mercer Jr., 71, of Graham, N.C., was cited for simple assault.
Judy Elaine Stuart was also charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, another protest occurred in Graham. This came after the announcement that only one of the three officers involved in Breonna Taylor's death is being charged and that his charges are for shots fired into other apartments and not for Taylor's death.
Police said two officers were standing at the corner of West Elm Street and Court Square when at 8:04 p.m., someone approached them saying he had been assaulted and had it on video.
When officers approached the suspect about the assault, about 10 people surrounded him, preventing police from coming near him, according to police.
"Another group surrounded the officer who were now being assisted by several Alamance County Sheriffs deputies to keep the crowd back," a press release said.
Police said the suspect, Kani Bynum, ran to a car on West Elm Street, about 350 feet from where officers approached him. Officers removed Bynum from the car and placed him under arrest. He's being charged with resist, delay obstruct and simple assault.
Bynum was taken to the Alamance County Jail and released on a written promise to appear in court.
Police say they don't expect any additional charges.
