A Graham woman was arrested after deputies say she abducted her child, who she doesn't have custody of.
At around 10 p.m. Saturday, the Alamance County Sheriff's Office received a report of a missing child. Through an investigation, deputies learned the child had been taken by their biological mother, Jessica Zamora Smith, according to a news release. Investigators also became aware of a second child who was transported without parental consent, the release noted.
At around 5 p.m. Sunday, deputies located one of the children. The second child was found shortly afterward.
Smith was arrested and is being charged with felony abduction of a child, felonious restraint, felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia She was taken to the Alamance County jail on a $7,500 secured bond.
This case is ongoing, and additional charges are possible. Anyone with information is asked to call the Alamance County Sheriff's Office at 336-570-6300.
